Medieval Talks: J. R. R. Tolkien

The Middle Ages remain with us today. Since the publication of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy, Lord of the Rings, the modern world has rediscovered or perhaps uncovered a deep engagement with the medieval. In this 4-part series, University of Western Ontario faculty and student guest speakers will place the medieval and modern worlds in conversation, discussing Tolkien, Game of Thrones, and Arrival. Guest speakers - Sarah Regier on Tolkien's Terra Nullius: Empty Lands and Empire in Lord of the Rings; Jayde Soares on Shelob: The Monsters and the Critics; Camryn Garritty on Tolkien and 'The fall of Arthur.' Two hours of free parking at Citi Plaza is available. Pick up a parking voucher from the main desk at Central Library.
