Join LPL and Musey for the premiere screening of the short documentary, The Upcycled Effect.
In a world drowning in fast fashion, a new generation is rewriting the story, one thrifted garment at a time. Inspired by the sustainability ethos of Musey.ca, first-year fashion design students of Fanshawe College dive into an upcycling experiment that is part design sprint, part cultural movement.
Armed with nothing but imagination and the raw materials of the past, they scour local thrift and vintage shops, transforming forgotten clothes into runway-ready works of art. The film moves between intimate conversations, the tactile energy of the studio, and the kinetic buzz of community pop-ups, from a pop-up runway show to an immersive installation at a clothing swap and mending café.
The Upcycled Effect is not just about clothes; it’s about re-stitching values, re-thinking waste, and re-imagining how beauty is made.
Free parking is available for two hours at Central Library with validation.
