The Media Lab, Recording Studio, Creativity Lab, and Memory Lab are available for London Public Library users who meet the following requirements:

 

  • A London Public Library Card in good standing (excluding eAccounts, Computer Only cards, and Connect Cards)

  • Valid photo ID (e.g. Ontario ID, Driver's License, Student ID, etc.);
  • 13 years of age and older. Users under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times and the parent or guardian will be considered the primary user;
  • Completion of the Labs Waiver below on an annual basis.

  • I agree to comply with the following London Public Library policies and guidelines:
  • I accept full responsibility for the space, equipment, and furniture in the Media Lab, the Recording Studio, Creativity Lab, and Memory Lab (hereafter referred to as “Labs”) during my session.
  • As the primary user, I will remain in the space at all times during my session.
  • I understand that I am responsible for the cost of repairs, replacements, or cleaning if the space is damaged or equipment is missing or damaged.
  • I understand that replacement charges will result in my library privileges being suspended until the library is reimbursed.
  • I understand that all Labs computers are reserved for digital media projects and are not available for general computer use, for example email, social media, browsing, etc.
  • I understand that this waiver will be in effect throughout the year indicated on the date above and that a new waiver needs to be completed each calendar year.
  • I understand that I am responsible for saving any work I wish to preserve to my own external device. Any work saved on library equipment will be deleted.
  • I understand that London Public Library is not responsible for the loss of data or information or damage to personal devices or equipment.
  • I understand that London Public Library has the right to refuse any 3D print request.
  • I understand that the London Public Library will not adjust any files for 3D printing to ensure a successful print.
  • I understand that the Labs may be used for lawful purposes only and cannot be used to create content that is:
    • Prohibited by provincial or federal law.
    • Unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or poses an immediate threat to the wellbeing of others.
    • Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the Library environment.
    • In violation of another’s intellectual property rights, for example the 3D printers and scanners may not be used to reproduce materials subject to copyright, patent, or trademark protection.
  • As per the Technology and Internet Use Policy, any person violating Library rules for technology use risks suspension of Library privileges, exclusion from the Library for a period of time, banning and or prosecution.
Fees:
  • 3D printing: $2.00 plus $0.10 per gram per print job plus HST
  • Button Maker: $0.25 to $0.50 per button or magnet
  • Vinyl: $2.00 to $3.00 per 12”x12” sheet (includes transfer tape, if required)
  • Cardstock: $0.25 to $0.30 per 8.5”x11” sheet of cardstock
    • Scrapbook paper: $1 per sheet (12x12)
    • Sticker paper: $1 per sheet
    • Iron-on Vinyl: $1.30 per sheet (12x12)
  • Other Fees: as per operational policy

Personal information collected by London Public Library is done so under the authority of the London Public Library Board. This will be used in the process of the library’s business.
