A Book For Every Child

About A Book For Every Child

A Book for Every Child is a Library fundraising campaign held annually during the holiday season (November and December) to collect books and donations for children who would not otherwise own a book. But did you know poverty and low literacy skills are closely linked? Children raised in poverty often begin school with a lower vocabulary than children from middle class families. Many are behind before they even get started. The greater the number of books a child is exposed to, the greater the vocabulary.

Thanks to our generous donors more than 7,000 books were distributed through over 40 London area social agencies and schools with low literacy rates.

How Can You Help?:
  • Make a donation. These donations enable Library staff to meet the growing need for multilingual and other specific reading needs and to take advantage of vendor discounts.

  • Purchase books at participating booksellers who offer a 20% discount during our annual initiative.

  • Consider making a donation on behalf of someone special. For example, your child's teacher, birthday presents, or tribute donation.
