Visiting Library Service

London Public Library comes to you!

Your Library provides library services to residents of the City of London who, for reasons of restricted mobility, physical or visual disability, or long-term illness, are unable to visit or use regular library facilities.

Available Collections and Resources

A wide selection of fiction and non-fiction, from classics to the latest bestsellers, are available in both hardcover and paperback. You will be able to access the diverse collections of the entire London Public Library system (magazines, compact discs, as well as commercially-produced Books-on-CD) via your home delivery.

In addition, a variety of special formats are also available:

Large Print Books

Complete, unabridged books with clear, larger, high-contrast type.

Talking Books

Full-length, non-dramatized recordings of books on compact disc (DAISY). Talking books are produced by non-commercial organizations such as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) for the exclusive use of individuals who cannot read printed materials.

DAISY Readers

A limited number are available for short-term loan, for use with Talking Books.

CELA: Centre for Equitable Library Access

For library patrons with print disabilities, we can help to register you for CELA membership. There are different delivery options, including access to thousands of titles on DAISY, downloadable resources, and even Bookshare, an accessible online library. Please contact Visiting Library for more information.

Selection and Delivery

We offer two types of visiting library services:

Monthly home delivery: we select and deliver items to you in your home or long-term care facility.

Branch delivery upon request: selected items are sent to any of your Library's 16 locations for pickup by a friend or relative of your choosing.

Your Library’s knowledgeable staff selects books and other materials for you based on a personal reading profile you complete when you sign up for this service. You are also encouraged to request specific items you would like to receive; materials may be requested by title, author, subject or format simply by contacting the Visiting Library office.

How do I sign up for this service?

Eligible customers must be residents of the City of London who are homebound for a period of 3 months or longer.

Download the Visiting Library Registration form (PDF) or obtain a form from any London Public Library location. Simply fill in the form and return it to your library branch or mail to:
