The Ivey Family London Room is looking for missing high school yearbooks from across the city.
Have an old London high school yearbook tucked away on a shelf or in a box? It might be one the Ivey Family London Room is missing.
The London Room at Central Library is working to fill gaps in its collection of London high school yearbooks, and members of the public can help by letting us know what they have.
Yearbooks offer a unique glimpse into London’s past, preserving class photos, clubs, teams, school events and the people who were part of them. Even handwritten notes, signatures and doodles can add to the story a yearbook tells.
Please review the following information and then contact the London Room to see if we are able to accept your yearbook.
Check your yearbook:
- Yearbooks being considered for donation should be from a secondary school in London and have an intact binding, with no missing pages or photographs.
- They should also be free from mold, water damage or signs of insect infestation.
- When you contact the London Room, please have the school name and year ready. If you’re emailing, photos of the cover and title page are also helpful.
Does your yearbook meet the criteria above? The next step is to contact the London Room:
- To ask about donating a yearbook, contact the Ivey Family London Room at research.request@lpl.ca or 519-661-5100 ext. 2410.
- Staff will check whether the yearbook is missing from the collection and whether it is in suitable condition to be accepted.
- Please wait until London Room staff have confirmed that your yearbook is needed before bringing it to Central Library or any other Library location.
- Because space is limited, the London Room cannot keep duplicate copies or materials that are damaged.
Please do not bring your yearbook to the Library until you have heard back from London Room Staff. We appreciate your patience!
While this campaign is focused on London high school yearbooks, the London Room also considers other local history materials throughout the year. Elementary and postsecondary yearbooks can be reviewed individually by London Room staff.
Take a look through your shelves, storage boxes or old keepsakes. You may be holding onto a piece of London history that can help fill a gap in the collection!
