Thanks to the generous support of the Sifton Family Foundation, London Public Library's TechKnow: Technology for Seniors program is expanding to reach more older adults across the city.
For many older adults, feeling confident with technology means more than learning a new skill. It means staying connected with loved ones, accessing important services and participating more fully in everyday life. Thanks to the generous support of the Sifton Family Foundation, more London seniors will have the opportunity to build those skills through London Public Library's TechKnow: Technology for Seniors program.
Following a highly successful pilot in spring 2025, TechKnow is expanding from four sessions (of 6 classes) to 16 sessions for the 2026-27 season. The pilot filled quickly and generated waitlists, demonstrating both the need for and enthusiasm around technology training designed specifically for older adults. The program will now be offered at 13 neighbourhood Library branches, bringing free digital literacy training closer to home for seniors across the city.

"Their support means more older adults will have the opportunity to build digital skills, connect with others and gain confidence using technology in a welcoming, supportive environment.
Each six-week course is taught by professional instructors from Fanshawe Corporate Training Solutions in small classes of six participants. The slower pace and hands-on approach give participants plenty of time for questions, practice and one-on-one support, creating a comfortable environment where they can learn with confidence.
Beyond learning new technology skills, participants build confidence, strengthen their independence and discover new ways to stay connected with family, friends and their community. They also gain the skills to access online services, Library resources and everyday digital tools with greater confidence. By removing barriers related to cost, technology and confidence, TechKnow helps ensure more seniors can participate and benefit.
The expansion reflects the shared commitment of London Public Library and the Sifton Family Foundation to helping seniors live more connected, independent lives. By investing in TechKnow, the Sifton Family Foundation is helping ensure more older adults have the skills and confidence to participate fully in an increasingly digital world.
