A quiet space. A lasting legacy.

Madelon West loved her Library.

Through a gift in her will, Madelon and her husband Kenneth created something lasting: a new quiet study room at Sherwood Branch Library, where students can focus, learn, and dream big.

For generations, the Sherwood Branch has been a community hub for families in northwest London. And now, thanks to a legacy gift from the Wests, the newly renovated Sherwood Branch includes a dedicated study room in their name.

The Wests were lifelong educators and Library supporters. “Nothing beat the day that Sherwood Forest Library opened,” the Wests' son shared with us. “It was a true joy for her.”

For families without quiet space at home, a study room at the Library can make a dramatic difference. In homes where youth may struggle to find privacy, a calm, welcoming space to focus can open up possibilities. It offers a foundation for learning, confidence, and future dreams.

As the Wests' son shared with us, “If my mother were still alive today, I think she’d be very happy knowing that her donation had contributed to students in London pursuing their educational dreams.”

Come visit the newly renovated Sherwood Branch Library and see how a legacy can help ensure that our community will thrive well into the future.
