Library Giving Day offers an opportunity to reflect on the role London Public Library plays in the lives of people across our community and the many ways community support helps the Library continue to grow and serve.

When asked what the Library means to them, Londoners often share stories that go far beyond books. Some remember spending their childhood at the Library and hope the next generation will do the same. Others talk about discovering collections new books, attending programs with their children, or finding connection and support during important moments in their lives. Many describe the Library as a safe, welcoming place where everyone belongs.

These stories are a reminder that the Library is not just a building or a collection. It is a community asset where people learn, connect, create, and find support at every stage of life.

From early literacy programs that help children develop a love of reading, to technology training and career resources for job seekers, to welcoming spaces for newcomers, families, seniors, and students, London Public Library continues to provide free access to opportunities that strengthen our entire community.

Library Giving Day, celebrated on April 1 and throughout the month of April, highlights the important role community support plays in sustaining and enhancing these programs and services. Donations help fund value-added programs and initiatives that expand what the Library can offer across its neighbourhood locations.

For generations, London Public Library has been a constant in the city. A place where children discover books for the first time, where students study and explore new ideas, where families attend programs together, and where individuals find information, support, and connection.

Library Giving Day is ultimately a celebration of community. It is a moment to recognize the impact of public libraries and the people who believe in the importance of free access to learning, information, and welcoming public spaces for everyone.
