Recognition highlights the value of London Public Library’s venue to Canada’s live music community

London Public Library’s  Wolf Performance Hall has earned national recognition with a nomination for a 2026 Canadian Live Music Award.

Announced by the Canadian Live Music Association, in partnership with Departure, the awards celebrate the people, places, and organizations shaping live music across the country. Nominees reflect the depth and diversity of Canada’s live music sector. Winners will be announced on May 6, 2026, at the Bluma Appel Theatre.

The Library’s Wolf Performance Hall has been nominated for “Best Teamwork in a Soft Seat Theatre or Performing Arts Centre” alongside some of the country’s most respected performance spaces, including Massey Hall and the National Arts Centre. The nomination comes from within the industry, making it a meaningful acknowledgement from peers across Canada’s live music community.

Creating exceptional experiences

Since opening in September 2002, as part of the new Central Library, Wolf Performance Hall has become a cornerstone of London’s cultural life. Generously supported by the Wolf Family Foundation, the venue was designed to serve both as a professional venue and a community performance space. Owned and operated by London Public Library, Wolf Performance Hall supports Library and community programming while providing a revenue stream for the Library.

In 2025, Wolf Performance Hall hosted 163 different events, including concerts by high profile artists, film festivals, popular concert series, dance, magic and comedy performances and conferences and lectures. Behind the scenes, a knowledgeable, dedicated team supports each event from start to finish, working closely with clients, artists, and presenters to bring their vision to life.

What sets Wolf Performance Hall apart is its focus on the full experience. From high-quality acoustics and adaptable technical capabilities to a central downtown location with accessible parking, every detail is designed with both performers and audiences in mind.

The team’s approach is hands-on and responsive, offering personalized service before, during, and after each event. Front-of-house and technical staff work together seamlessly, creating an environment that feels both professional and welcoming. The team at Wolf goes above and beyond to ensure the best experience possible for clients and artists, and, most importantly, for audiences.

Supporting artists and audiences

As both a venue and a presenter, Wolf Performance Hall plays an important role in connecting artists with audiences in London. It provides a platform for local talent while also welcoming touring performers from across Canada and beyond.

Canadian musician John Muirhead recently played to a sold out crowd at a concert presented by Wolf Performance Hall.

The Wolf is an incredible theatre. Beautiful room, sounds amazing, and the whole team is a pleasure to work with & dedicated to putting on a great show. Can't wait until the next time.

This balance reflects the Library’s broader mission to create spaces where people can learn, share, and experience culture together. At Wolf Performance Hall, that mission comes to life through music, storytelling, and live performance.

A shared achievement

This nomination reflects the many people who make Wolf Performance Hall what it is today. From the dedicated staff and technical teams along with generous donors, to the artists, partners, and audiences who fill the space, it speaks to a shared commitment to creativity and community.

For Londoners, it is also a reminder that a nationally recognized performance venue exists right here in the heart of the city, as part of their public library.

As the live music community gathers in May to celebrate this year’s nominees, Wolf Performance Hall stands as a proud example of what is possible when community, culture, and care come together in one space.
